It was 11:16 at night, Wednesday, November 7, 2018. We were asleep and peacefully resting from a day at work when the land line began to ring…. This call was different; pandemonium could be heard in the background.
I imagine a profound time in my life as I look back to the early 1990’s when I found myself finally locating and creating a safe, comfortable “box” in which to live seemingly giving permission to settle my soul. This yellow and white box I fashioned was actually quite beautiful…
I never knew there is an actual disorder (diagnosed by experts) called “Decision Fatigue.” This term entered my vocabulary quite accidentally when I heard it used recently while in a business meeting with one of my friends, who happens to be a fairly big executive.
I remember when I was a child and so enjoyed playing the game of connecting the dots by number until the lines formed a full and brilliant picture. Watching the once hidden shape emerge gave me joy as an image developed just from knowing the order of simple numbers!
Have you ever had an “oops” moment? Personally, I really dislike it when I happen to have one myself, which, I did. “Oops” moments’ drive me crazy and stay in my head much longer than necessary. I would like to blame Social Media for the pickle I’m in. I’d like to blame Facebook. Who knows, maybe, I’ll have some major catharsis while I write this blog.
I am going to pick up my mother-in-law at the doctor’s office. I was here just a few hours earlier so I know I’m going to Suite 408. I really don’t want to be late as she is not the most patient person in the world. At the doctors’ building the doors open to an empty elevator. I walk through and push the red button for floor number four. “Ding,” the elevator sounds.
